The Friday After Christmas

a tale of poverty, bad policing, and grit in Columbus, OH

The Friday After Christmas
A poor white kid from Linden steals bike from OSU student on Christmas night.

the thief on Howey Rd passing the All Seeing Ring at 1:23AM.

Columbus, Ohio - A bike was stolen from the Grant Park neighborhood on Christmas night last year.

According to a private investigator, the thief is named "Chris" and lives at 2578 Renwood Place in the Linden area. The listed occupant of that residence is Ashley Steier (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61554974542849), a digital creator who posts infrequent updates of her family.

have you seen me?

That's how 10TV writes but I happen to have a subjective experience with this case. I pointed the PI to the Linden area when I heard he was investigating a stolen motorcycle. Here's the story:

On the Christmas of 2025, a young Caucasian man named Chris left 2578 Renwood Place in an old white pickup truck. Chris has a hobby and that hobby involves taking the vehicular belongings of others. It's Chris-tmas night and this man-boy named Chris seen no gifts under his tree. As a former lifelong resident of the Linden area, I know the feeling. Tonight, Chris wants to put gifts under a DIFFERENT tree. He took a left off McGuffey onto Hudson and took Hudson to 71. He most likely got off at 11th Ave (which would have put him in Zone 4 and close to the police station), and started breaking into cars in the luxury apartments around 4th Street. There he found a Suzuki, put it on his truck, and drove past a dozen Ring cameras taking it back to 2578 Renwood Place. The PI thought Chris was smart because he ditched the AirTag on the 2900 block of Howey Road. I knew better. Chris is a lazy criminal with a "kit." He realized the AirTag was on and ditched it literally five blocks away from his mother's home. I advised the PI that thankfully this AirTag wasn't dropped near the train tracks..- then we'd be in trouble. "I'm from this area, the bike is there." The PI went to that area and found the bike. Wow.

Is CPD overwhelmed with gun violence?

The bike was stolen on Christmas night of 2025. 2025 seen eighty-four murders, which was a 33% decrease for the year before but if CPD couldn't solve THIS?:

Then we're cooked as owners of private property. The owner of this motorcycle is an international student at OSU. At least he's getting the authentic American experience. As a baby Linden-er (Rest in Peace Daiqwon Jemmerio Nix), I know how the young/bored residents feed off committing petty/property crimes in the campus area. But it gets deeper.

Boys in Blue.

While doing his PI'ing, our Sherlock happened on a vehicular crash on McGuffey, which was being attended by our Boys in Blue. He asked one of the cops if he knew anything about this address.. "Yes, that's a trap house run by a crime family" was how it was reported to me. A crime family. The ill-informed cop proceeded to tell our PI that they were known to the police. A stolen BMW is in driveway and the Suzuki Hayabusa GSX1300R is under the tree.. what do you mean they are known to you? The PI consulted his cop friend from LA who told him "they're clearly being bribed." No, the framework they're using to investigate property crime needs to be remodeled the same way the did the homicide unit. 2578 Renwood Place is in the middle of Zone 6, although residents call it "zone4." The police station closest to Renwood is Precinct 2, located at 2714 GRASMERE AVE. It's insulting as a taxpayer how close it is. I'm not here to beat up on police. I'm here to get an OSU student his bike back so he can enjoy his last summer in the 614.

If you have any information that would be helpful for our public servants, here's how to do it:

IF YOU HAVE INFORMATION ON CHRIS FOR A FOLLOW UP STORY:

Letter to a Linden Thief

Dear Chris,

I imagine life has been hard. I don't know too much about "Big Dan" or "Big Momma" but I imagine you felt a bit alone in this life. Poverty will do that to you. You've moved too hot, paisan. Paisan means countryman in Italian. I imagine you don't know that. I imagine you don't know a lot of things. What I know is that you're seeing time regardless. You probably don't care but you will. Delay your pussy pursuits and do some good. Leave the bike near Kerouac Cafe in North Campus. You put two women on the back of a stolen motorcycle and posted it on social media already. Good for you, you lived that. A memory to dwell on while beyond bars. ADVISE: They take kind gestures into consideration at sentencing.

Signed,

PaperbackDello.
